Description

Assembly Millwrights are responsible for the assembly, precision alignment, calibration, and dismantling of industrial machinery and equipment within a manufacturing plant environment. Tasks include assembling components, tack welding, drilling, measuring, and rigging of large structures. Interpretation of mechanical assembly and engineering drawings and reading work orders is required to plan the layout, alignment and assembly of components using hands, hand tools, bridge cranes or small machines to complete the manufacturing process.

Duties and responsibilities

· Use of hand tools and power tools to trim, cut and fit components into the final product assembly.

· Inspect finished pieces to verify dimensions, structural integrity, and conformity to specifications.

· Perform repairs and testing of products to meet required standards and specifications.

· Read and interpret mechanical drawings and communicate verbally with design engineers to assemble and troubleshoot equipment and parts.

· Collaboration with a broader team, including engineers, assemblers, welders and quality control to validate product and process designs.

· Use of measurement devices such as a tape measure and various gauges (calipers) to troubleshoot and perform critical measurements.

· Use of magnetic drill, grinder, saw, hand tools and air powered tools to modify, assemble & fasten components

· Tack welding to temporarily position components in preparation for final welding to be completed by certified welders.

· Safely operate fork trucks, overhead cranes and jibs.

· Utilize ERP system (Epicor) to enter labor hours and job start / completion transactions.

· Follow safety guidelines for safe operation of all equipment. Use company required PPE in the working environment (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, etc.)

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Ability to read and interpret mechanical and machine drawings.

· Previous mechanical experience with the assembly of industrial equipment.

· Experience in heavy equipment manufacturing industry is preferred.

· Prior industrial equipment installation and repair experience is preferred.

· Strong communication skills.

· Possess basic computer knowledge and working experience.

· HS diploma or GED required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities

Working conditions

Assembly work is performed in a factory environment collaborating with cross-functional partners. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Some conditions require work from an elevated position (i.e. on a ladder, personal lift)

Physical requirements

The physical requirements to safely perform the duties of this position include: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, reaching, crouching, good hand/eye coordination for material handling, gripping various hand tools, climbing up/down ladders, verbal communication, and listening to directions.

The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay Range: $28-$30 per hour based on experience, education, skills and qualifications.
