HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
G.K. Enterprises, Inc., the holding company for the Whiting Group of companies, is seeking a Human Resources Manager. This is a very hands-on generalist role for organizations including heavy equipment manufacturing, nationwide equipment servicing and chemical process equipment design. The group is approximately 250 employees, based out of Illinois with satellite offices in several states.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures. Maintain policies in the employee handbook. Advise management on best practices to adhere to policy.
- Implement and adapt company policy and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, such as Affirmative Action, Americans with Disabilities Act, and Affordable Care Act.
- Counsel and assist employees with problems and questions relating to personnel policies and procedures. Advise managers on the handling of performance issues and discipline to ensure consistency and minimize legal risk. Manage unemployment claims.
- Lead benefit plan design, annual renewal, new employee benefit orientation, review and approval of invoices and COBRA.
- Develop recruiting sources, write and place job advertisements, screen and recommend qualified candidates.
- Implement, maintain, integrate and maximize HRIS systems and tools, including payroll (Paylocity), benefits (bSwift), performance management and onboarding/offboarding (Taleo).
- Review benefit plan enrollment forms, change reporting, approve invoices for payment, assist with the annual benefits insurance bid process, and facilitate improvement measures.
- Administration and management of workers compensation claims. Review loss experience and work in cooperation with operations and risk management to develop and implement loss prevention methods. Complete and maintain OSHA reporting and forms.
- Train management and staff on sexual harassment, diversity, performance management and related topics. Assist departments in identifying and sourcing other training needs.
- Manage Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests and other disability leaves.
- Ensure timely distribution and tracking of employee performance reviews and wage increases.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field or Professional in Human Resources certification required.
- Minimum of five years' experience in human resources.
- Knowledge of management and labor relations as well as compliance requirements in all federal, state, and local labor and employment law.
- Experience in payroll, benefits, and maintaining personnel files.
- History of time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, work independently, and complete deadlines.
- Ability to resolve conflict in a timely and efficient manner, deliver sound decisions, and manage stress.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Skills in professional communication, both written and verbal.
