Job purpose
The Vice President of Finance is responsible for directing and managing GK and it's subsidiaries, including Whiting Corporation, the company’s fiscal functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensures timely and accurate budget analysis and financial review for management team.
- Recommends and develops policies, procedures, and systems to meet company objectives.
- Provides strategic financial leadership and support on the evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers, pension funds, and investments and/or other issues affecting the business.
- Recommends and leads new efforts to improve ROE/ROA performance.
- Works to optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiates needed strategies for improvement. Handles treasury functions of the company.
- Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
- Aligns financial policies and procedures with company objectives.
- Establishes financial reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with company expenditure requirements and to meet customer needs.
- Manage audit and banking relationships.
- Negotiate banking agreements.
- Handle all aspects of both the financial and benefit audit processes.
- Act as a member of the investment committee. Hold quarterly calls to monitor performance of investments in defined benefit and defined contribution plans.
- Manage cash and investments on a balance sheet.
- Process payroll for GK Enterprises.
- Oversees IT
- “Dotted line” oversight of financial areas of foreign subsidiaries.
- International tax planning
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the complete oversight of finance and IT areas.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field required
- Minimum of ten years’ professional experience with at least five years in finance and accounting management (i.e. controller, assistant controller, finance/accounting manager, etc.)
- MBA and/or CPA advantageous.
- Experience in heavy manufacturing advantageous.
Working conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
