Description
Quality Assurance Engineer
Performs functions to monitor and maintain systems and processes that produce value added work to the level of quality specified. The Quality Engineer also reports and records conditions adverse to quality and shall be involved in resolution.
Under general direction:
- Assists in maintaining corrective action program and maintenance of tracking database.
- Provides support, as needed, in area of quality assurance to ensure compliance with requirements and objectives, including performance inspections.
- Supports implementation of QA program.
- Performs visual weld inspections (once certified) and works with welding supervisor in maintaining welder certifications and continuity.
- Develops QA inspection plans for material receipt inspections and performs receipt inspections as required.
- Provides support for Performance Assessment Program and procurement activities required to meet applicable regulations.
- Conducts quality assurance audits, assessments and surveillance of operations and vendors. Maintains evaluated suppliers list.
- Supports management and staff with quality assurance services, as requested (root cause analysis, critique expertise).
- Provides support for the development of quality-related procedures and plans.
- Maintains current knowledge/qualifications on quality methods and techniques; develops and provides training on QA-related topics.
Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of quality assurance experience. 1+ years of nuclear industry experience preferred.
- Certified Weld Inspector preferred.
- Ability to analyze historical data for trends and to produce charts/graphs illustrating analyses.
- Knowledge of assessment/auditing practices.
- Knowledge of causal analysis techniques.
- Experience with ISO Quality Assurance and NQA-1 regulations and directives preferred.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to work with ERP systems.
- Weld Inspector certification preferred.
- Occasional travel.
