Manufacturing Engineer
Job purpose
The Manufacturing Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls.
Duties and responsibilities
- Create routings, BOMs (bills of material), and enters new part numbers into ERP for stock orders, sales orders and service orders.
- Monitors flow of process and equipment through the shop floor.
- Provide suggestions for improvement in manufacturing processes.
- Serve as back up for Machine Programmer.
- Make suggestions for cost justifications for new or replacement equipment.
- Project manage new equipment procurement and installation.
- Follow safety guidelines for safe operation of all equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial/manufacturing engineering or engineering technology required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing engineering required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints required.
- Experience in crane or heavy equipment manufacturing industry preferred.
- Effective oral and written communications skills required.
- Experience with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CAD (Computer Assisted Design) preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills required.
Working conditions
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Physical requirements
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
- No or very limited physical effort required.
