Territory Salesman Job Description
Job brief
Territory Salesman position will be the face to face liaison between our company and its current and potential key accounts. The Territory Salesman will be seasoned sales professionals in the overhead crane and hoist business and will also be self-motivated, goal oriented, enthusiastic, positive, and able to accept ownership to effectively manage prospect development, customer issues, complaints and inquiries. Customer satisfaction must be at the core of every decision and behavior.
Responsibilities
General
- Meet or exceed individual daily, weekly and monthly goals.
- Develop product and service knowledge to effectively handle calls.
- Follow communication “play book” when handling different subject areas.
- Keep comprehensive records of all contacts within a CRM.
Prospecting
- Utilize a CRM as well as inside and outside resources to generate new prospecting leads.
- Aggressively prospect & develop the territory using call center leads, phone, email, referrals and cold calls.
- Manage large amounts of inbound / outbound calls and emails in a timely manner.
- Effectively manage, support and update all call backs and coordinate sales appointments.
Account Development
- Identify current and prospective account decision makers, potential advocates and barriers to account development.
- Focus on identifying needs, opportunities, qualifying new prospects and assessing customer needs.
- Master development of new inspection accounts as well as techniques to upgrade frequency of existing inspections with current customers to meet their needs.
- Master the development of large and complex key accounts to maximize the opportunities for the organization.
- Manage existing accounts to promote and develop new relationships to grow revenue.
- Build sustainable relationships and engage customers.
Outside Sales
- Close new accounts by face to face interaction as well as answering telephone, fax, and e-mail inquiries; verifying and entering information.
- Develops sales opportunities by researching and identifying potential accounts; soliciting new accounts; building rapport; providing technical information and explanations; preparing quotations.
- Develop and actively sell value added solutions for complex and technical applications.
- Process orders by transferring to relevant department and communicating expectations.
- Seize opportunities to upsell products.
- Work with Regional Manager and operations when selling complex or technical offerings.
Product & Service Knowledge
- Understands and can explain relevant codes and standards.
- Understands relevant mechanical, electrical and structural application information to advise clients.
- Fully understands and can present features and benefits and value position of WHITING SERVICES and our featured vendor’s products and services.
- Strong estimation skills for inspection and maintenance services, repairs and equipment.
- Attend educational seminars to improve knowledge and performance level.
- Updates job knowledge by studying new product descriptions and participating in educational opportunities
Requirements
- Strong background within the industry and a proven ability to effectively close key orders and maintain key accounts.
- Strong relationship development, problem solving and communication skills
- Previous experience in a customer support/inside sales role.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and practices.
- Customer focus and adaptability to different personality types.
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively.
Compensation
- Salary Range of $50 to $60K annually based upon volume handled and market factors.
- Commission based upon current plan in effect.
