CNC Lathe Operator
Performs functions to machine parts to specified tolerances according to supplied drawing(s).
Works from blueprints, work orders and instructions:
♦ Operates three machines in a work cell:
The Omega Vertical Turret Lathe and Doosan Vertical Turret Lathe, which are mid-size CNC machines that process forging and castings for metal wheels and sheaves.
Mitts & Merrill, which is a mid-size internal keyseater.
♦ Will cross-train on other CNC and manual machinery as necessary.
♦ Downloads programs, makes setups, and performs necessary operations to manufacture parts to drawing specifications.
♦ Uses measurement devices such as calipers and micrometers and pi tapes.
♦ Reads and interprets dimensional requirements for parts from engineered drawings.
♦ Troubleshoots own work.
♦ Operates a fork truck and all overhead cranes.
♦ Enters work order information through terminals in the shop.
♦ Performs operator maintenance on equipment (TPM).
♦ Follows safety guidelines for safe operation of all equipment.
♦ Participates in Continuous Improvement Projects.
♦Performs other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Machining Supervisor
Job Requirements:
♦ High school diploma or equivalency required.
♦ Minimum 2 years related experience required.
♦ Knowledge of Fanuc is a plus, but not required.
♦ Experience and ability to use micrometers to measure tolerances to .0005, as well as pi tapes.
♦ Experience in crane or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
♦ Work in a factory setting; ability to stand 6-10 hours daily, ability to lift <50lbs frequently. Personal protective equipment (PPE)required.
♦ Ability to communicate effectively within the organization on multiple levels.
♦ Basic PC knowledge.
