Title: Quality Assurance Engineer Department: Quality Assurance      FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried)

Position description:

• Assists in maintaining corrective action program and maintenance of tracking database.
• Provides support, as needed, in area of quality assurance to ensure compliance with requirements and objectives, including performing inspections.
• Supports implementation of QA program.
• Provides support for Performance Assessment Program and Procurement activities required to meet applicable regulations.
• Supports management and staff with quality assurance services, as requested (i.e., root cause analysis and critique expertise).
• Maintains knowledge/qualifications on quality methods and techniques.
• Provides support for the development of quality-related procedures and plans, as requested.
• Performs management assessments, independent assessments, and surveillances, as requested.
• Supports management and staff with quality assurance services, as requested (i.e., lessons learned, root cause analysis, and critique expertise).
• Conduct Quality Assurance audits, assessments, and surveillances of operations and vendors, and maintain Evaluated Supplier List.
• Develop QA inspection plans for material receipt inspections and perform receipt inspections as required.
• Review maintenance and construction work control package to ensure appropriate quality controls are specified.
• Provide support to and monitor the quality of operations, maintenance, and construction activities
• Develop and provide training on QA-related topics.

Required skills:

• Working knowledge of NQA-1 and ISO Quality Assurance regulations and directives.
• Knowledge of assessment/auditing practices
• Ability to analyze historical data for trends and to produce charts/graphs illustrating analyses
• Knowledge of causal analysis techniques
• Excellent verbal skills and technical writing ability.
• Capable to stand in as QA Manager

Technical, Leadership, Management, Communications and Customer Service Skills

• Technical Skills:  Extensive experience in quality assurance. Strong knowledge and comprehension of Federal, State and local regulations and codes related to quality assurance issues. Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary to maintain safe work practices and environment.
• Leadership and Management Skills:  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  Proven record of working with minimal direct supervision, exercising independent judgment and taking initiative in a number of complex and sensitive areas.  Prove ability to lead and organize professionals, technicians, and support staff.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written communication and time management skills.
• Customer Service Skills:  Strong orientation for internal and external customers. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.  Proven utilization of the principles of public speaking, conflict resolution and excellent customer service.

Education Experience:

• Baccalaureate in Engineering or related Science or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience related to QA, of which 1 year is desired to be nuclear.
• ASQ Certification desired
