Description
There is an immediate opening for a Welder on the Second Shift (5:00 P.M. – 1:30 A.M.) in our Welding Department. The skills and responsibilities for this position are listed below:
Works from blueprints, work orders and instructions:
• Reads complex welding drawings and welds parts according to engineering specifications.
• Determines necessary tooling to be used for each work order and set-up if required.
• Selects proper wire or rod for welds.
• Hand burns parts.
• Uses tools and measuring devices such as tape measure, square, blocking, chisels, file, wire brush and other metal preparation equipment.
• Plans weld sequences to minimize distortion.
• Simple layout of parts.
• Operates a fork truck and all overhead cranes.
• Enters work order information through terminals in the shop.
• Follows safety guidelines for safe operation of all equipment.
• Participates in Continuous Improvement Projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Uses: Welding and metal preparation equipment, fork truck, overhead crane.
Job Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Welder B: Minimum 1-2 years related experience required.
• Ability to pass a basic qualifying weld test and be certified.
• Experience in crane or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
• Work in a factory setting; ability to stand 6-10 hours daily, ability to lift <50lbs frequently.
• Ability to communicate effectively within the organization on multiple levels.
• Basic PC knowledge (ability to operate a keyboard and basic navigation between screens within an application).
Starting rate $15.18/hour + $0.60/hr night shift premium. Eligible for an additional $0.50/hr after satisfactory completion of 90 day probationary period.
