Product Manager
Performs functions to manage the industrial crane product line, including product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with sales, engineering, marketing and manufacturing/materials to ensure revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.
Under general oversight:
Reports to: Crane Product Group Manager
Uses: Microsoft Office (incl. Excel, Word), Solidworks

Performs functions to manage the industrial crane product line, including product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle, including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with sales, engineering, marketing and manufacturing/materials to ensure revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager is also responsible for ensuring that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.
Under general oversight:
- Manages the entire industrial crane product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
- Defines the product strategy and roadmap.
- Leads the Whiting New Product Development Process including the ongoing management of the product profile.
- Develops and maintains the product line business plan.
- Works closely with sales to gather and implement market-based product functionality. Conducts market research supported by on-going visits to current and potential customers.
- Stays comprehensively informed regarding the completion.
- Analyzes potential partner relationships for the product.
- Acts as a leader within the company.
Reports to: Crane Product Group Manager
Uses: Microsoft Office (incl. Excel, Word), Solidworks
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a engineering or business discipline required.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in the heavy equipment industry.
- Experience using Solidworks or other parametric 3D modeling software.
- Crane experience preferred, but not required.
- Candidate must have strong leadership skills and be a good communicator, both verbal and written; will interface with both customers and vendors on a routine basis.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Some work in manufacturing areas as a daily liaison to review and assist projects; use of PPE (personal protective equipment) as required.
- Travel to customer locations required, approximately 20%.
