Western Regional Sales Manager
Performs functions to manage and develop sales within an assigned territory and product line while preserving healthy margins.
Under general direction:
- Manages and develops sales within assigned territory and product line. States to include: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
- Ideal candidate will have experience in selling capital equipment and/or service contracts to OEMs.
- Works to increase business with existing customers; prospects and wins business with emerging customers.
- Prospects and wins business with emerging customers.
- Assists with Development of sales proposals by acting as a liaison and technical resource between customer and application engineering group.
- Works on cross-functional teams between sales and engineering to meet customer’s design expectations, ensure timely delivery and protect product margins.
- Negotiates contracts focusing on benefits and features over cost.
- Achieves sales and profit goals.
- Completes sales forecast and prospecting list.
- Completes job analysis.
- Completes market research for assigned territory.
- Presents sales proposals and defines customer scope on site.
- Attends bid meetings and project on site evaluations.
- Prepares and hosts customer Whiting visits.
- Acts as first point of contact for post-sale support.
- Occasionally acts as the first point of contact to field urgent customer issues.
Reports to: VP Business unit
Uses: Microsoft Office (incl. Excel, Word), CAD readers, customer relationship software, miscellaneous demo equipment.
Responsible for: direct or indirect delegation of administrative, marketing or sales support to Administrative Assistant or Sales and Marketing Coordinator as needed.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in related field preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience
- General technical aptitude required.
- Ability to travel extensively (50% – 70% of work time).
- Frequent work in customer manufacturing areas and construction sites; use of PPE (personal protective equipment) as required.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
- Ideal candidate must be a good communicator (both verbal and written), a good negotiator, outgoing personality.
