Description
The Assistant Controller provides internal and external users of managerial and financial reporting information with timely, accurate, and useful data. In addition to ensuring the integrity of the accounting system, the Assistant Controller reviews all invoices to ensure they are properly approved, coded and paid through Accounts Payable. Additionally, the candidate will analyze job costs, ensuring that all material, labor and overhead are properly charged to jobs for a manufacturer of custom overhead cranes and railcar lifting equipment.
Under general direction:
· Generates Epicor month end reports, ensuring that proper cutoffs are recognized.
· Prepares and inputs General Ledger Journal Entries as required.
· Analyzes Trial Balance ensuring that all balance sheet and variance account balances are reasonable.
· Analyzes departmental budget performance reports, investigating cost variances.
· Prepares annual business plan, based upon sales forecast and departmental budgets.
· Conducts financial review meetings with Whiting Department Managers.
· Prepares year end work papers for annual audit.
· Prepares year end work papers for tax returns.
· Performs special analyses, special reports as requested by Whiting Department Managers.
· Supervises receptionist who assists with inputting accounts payable invoices into Manfact.
Job Requirements:
· Minimum 5 years cost accounting work experience in a manufacturing environment required.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP System.
· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
