Description

Inspector/Receiving Inspector

Performs functions to prepare measure, inspect and approve raw materials, machined components and tools for compliance with customer and/or industry standards that are part of the manufacturing process.

  • Perform receipt inspection matching material to purchase order requirement.
  • Performs in-process precise dimensional measurements using mainly hand held precision measuring equipment.
  • Reads prints/schematics in order to perform required inspections based on print defined parameters.
  • Performs accurate and self checking of data entry into inspection data bases, or electronic forms.
  • Coordinates varying required inspection activities to achieve compliance to Operations daily scheduling product needs.
  • Performs review of material test reports against standards (ASTM, AWS).
  • Writes non-conformance reports and obtains resolution as needed.
  • Writes condition reports, investigates, and obtains resolution as needed. (Root cause analysis experience preferred.)
  • Perform shop moves, NCR's, and DMR's in Epicor.
  • Perform paint thickness checks
  • Involvement in audit processes as required.
  • Accurately performs record filing/retention as defined.
  • Writes procedures and work instructions when required.
  • Willingness to be trained to take on additional job responsibilities within the QA group as deemed necessary based on need.

Reports to: Director of Quality/Quality Assurance Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Prior demonstrated experience as an inspector in a machining environment required.
  • Capable of understanding written procedures/work instructions, standards and any codes as required.
  • Must exhibit good communication skills with all levels of management.
  • Possess a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Prior experience in companies with ISO/NQA-1 is a plus.
  • Auditor and/or NDE qualifications are a plus.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement and GS. Follows safety rules and keeps work area in clean and orderly condition.
